Professor Leonard K. K. Chan is Chair Professor of Chinese Literature, and Director of Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture. He was founding Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Prior to joining EdUHK, Professor Chan was Professor in the Division of Humanities at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He had served as Head of the Department of Chinese at Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a distinguished scholar in the areas of Chinese literary criticism and Chinese literary history. The main research of Professor Chan has been in the areas of literary historiography, Chinese and Hong Kong literature. Professor Chan is a member of various educational committees/bodies and an external referee of journals of other tertiary institutions. He has been invited by government departments and renowned universities to deliver lectures and has been active in presenting papers in regional and international conferences. Professor Chan has also been visiting scholar for a number of universities in the Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Canada and the USA.
Chinese Literary, Criticism/Chinese Literary, Historiography/ Hong Kong Literature
Professor Chan has been actively serving in the editorial and advisory boards of varied journals in the Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. He is invited to serve in the Public Libraries Advisory Committee for the HKSAR, and also in the Advisory Panel of Literature of Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Professor Chan has been invited to be an external assessor for the recruitment/promotion exercise for senior academic staff for local and regional tertiary institutions. He has been an external reviewer of programme materials of other tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.
