Art for Severely Disabled Children At Home

This project aimed to nurture CCA BEd(VA) students (visual arts education) and SEC BEd(Special Needs) students (Special Needs Education) work together to support the knowledge transfer of Visual Arts for severely disabled children at home by Mr Iceman Leung (Project-in-charge) and Carmen Yau (Project coordinator). Severely disabled children have no chance to study at school due to their weak physical ability and transportation barriers. This project will investigate the teaching methods in home visit severely disabled children and teenagers in order to provide art and other educational stimulation to build their knowledge and creativity. With the support from Families of SMA Charitable Trust (“FSMA”), we will be able to help students understand and meet the special needs of these medically fragile patients who are bed-ridden, unable to move (or tetraplegic) as well as require life-saving and life-sustaining medical machinery around the clock/on need basis. Due to the severity of their disabilities, these children and teenagers (mainly ventilated-assisted children (VAC)) are unable to go to school regularly and have very limited stimulation and education.
